Windows 7 Review

Well I've been using Windows 7 x64 beta on my MacBook for awhile now and to be honest....... it's good, I mean it's really really good. And I think that means a lot coming from a Mac guy. While it's got bugs just like any other beta program would, the overall is performance and stability is very good.

Windows 7 is basically Windows Vista with all the problems fixed.  The solid foundation of Windows XP + The beauty and simplicity of Windows Vista = Windows 7
One of my favorite things in Windows 7 (and Vista) is the Start Menu search. For example who can ever remember that the Run command for Remote Desktop is "mstsc"? In Windows 7 you can either type mstsc or type Remote Desktop. So the start menu search basically is a search and Run command combined in to one.Capture Capture2

The new “pin to taskbar” option gives Windows users a “Dock” like feel without having to download a third-party app. Also when a program is open, the program’s icon shows up on the taskbar, not the bar with the program name from previous versions.

I haven’t noticed anything as far as Windows 7 booting up faster than any other Windows OS, but that may be because I am using it on a Virtual Machine. The new “Homegroup” option makes it easy to share media across your network. And thank God, Windows 7 fully support all iTunes and QuickTime formatted files (mp4, m4v, m4a, H.264). This will go quite nice with the new DRM-free music from iTunes. So Windows Media Center will play all your iTunes music and movies with no problem.

I haven’t noticed any other significant changes, if I notice anything else I’ll be sure to mention it. If you guys find anything I missed be sure to lets us know.

So over all, Windows 7 – I’ll give 4/5 stars

Microsoft has another winner!

Microsoft has another winner on it's hands with the new Garage Band Killer, Songsmith.  All you have to do is sing and Songsmith does the rest, creating the song for your singing.  I know it looks like a SNL parody, but it's a real product .  The best part is, the Macbook Pro the girl is using!
