Xbox 2

I remember being so excited by the "Xbox 2" before launch.  I remember a series of video's I had on my mac that I would watch over and over and over again, scanning the frames for any morsels of information I might have missed.  Here's one of them and just want to put it out there since it's throwback Friday.

4 lettered space FPS

So I've been playing a 4 lettered, Space FPS.  I'm a Space Marine fighting burly ape like aliens with a melee weapon wielding an assault rifle and pistol.  What game am I playing.  Well N.O.V.A. on the iPhone of course.  What did you expect?

NOVA by Gameloft is a new FPS on the iPhone where the developers admittedly were inspired by other games in the genre such as Halo and Dead Space.  I'm not very far into it but I'm impressed so far.  The singleplayer is reportedly an 8 hour venture.  Multiplayer seems to be good although it's missing options which make Eliminate Pro a first rate multiplayer title.  This being said, I prefer NOVA's multiplayer.  It has bigger maps and a more level playing field.  There is no pay as you play option which made the purchase of a $6.99 game bearable, especially one of this quality.  Multiplayer is missing any sort of matchmaking feature, so meeting up with your friends is a little difficult at the moment.  Hopefully an update will fix this.  Another great feature this game has that I haven't seen in any other is the fact that you can completely customize the UI to your liking.

All in all I'm very impressed with NOVA.  It is probably the most graphically impressive title on the platform and I like pretty lights.  If you're bored and have $6.99 burning a hole in your pocket, I say pick it and maybe I'll see you online.
