Video games as art

Todays post isn't actually referring to video games as an artistic medium.  We are actually referring to using video games and their peripherals as a means to create art.  These were taken by my good friend Greg Samson.(Gamertag Samson303)  They were shot on a Rebel XSI.  More to come.

"She thinks it's a movie..."

Sony has had their fair share of  Playstation commercial fails(no not the PS3.)  They knocked one out of the park with this one though.  It really does look that good.

Preparing for the zombie apocalypse!

To prepare for the special podcast we have coming up this week(wink wink, nudge nudge) I want to start the week off with some input from all of you.  Originally I wanted to put a poll up asking everyone for their favorite Zombie movie and games, but realized I'm not the expert.  So let's get everyone else's opinions, post up in the comments letting everyone  know what you think, and who knows, maybe someone will bring one up you didn't think of.  I'll start!

Movie:  Shaun of the Dead, I love the absurdity of it all.
Game:  The Resident Evil Series, I know kind of cheating, though I seriously considered Lef4Dead, I had to go with the one that started it all.

Ding!

So after 11+ hours of being 70, I finally lvled to 71 last night.  It felt really amazing and the best part is, that not once did I ever get bored in that 11 hours.  I've finally discovered that it's not how fast you get here or there, but how much fun you have while you're doing it.  I think the content in Northrend is really inspired and that definitely  helps, but I'm also not the player I was when I was in my 30's.  Is it because I do see the end?  Is it because I know I won't have another 10 lvl's for a year or two?  Or is it me.  It doesn't really matter actually.  All that does is that I'm really enjoying WoW.  I also think it has probably saved me a little money because I have not been buying other games.  Win, win all around.

It was also the first time I've completed Utgarde Keep .  I died twice which only show's me I still have a lot of learning to do but the PUG I was with was very nice and helpful.  I also rolled on an excellent piece of gear that was a great upgrade and huge improvement over what I was using .

What about the rest of you playing WoW.  What's the experience like now that most everyone has had some time in game.  What lvl are you and what personal achievements are you working and excited for?

Who are you...?

Today a few of us were talking about the avatars in the NXE and how closely you can make your digital self resemble your real life persona. Although it was touched on briefly, I though it would be kinda cool to show your avatars off. Log in to xbox.com and manage your profile and you will find a picture of your avatar which you can copy and paste to a new post.   So what do you think?

A friendly reminder!

I was reminded last week by Newton 3.0 , that some features in the NXE may still be unknown or just not used to yet.  If you login to xbox.com and go to the Xbox Live Marketplace page, you can que up downloads for either game content, or video content.  This is your Xbox tip of the day.

How it ends...

So I beat Gears 2 last night.  Goal number 1 for the week.  It was a very impressive conclusion to the game and the story which it is associated with.  Closing the story of Gears while leaving the possibility of more to come.(There will be more)  Now I can completely focus on playing WoW and a little multi player Gears.  Also this is a reminder for my friends gaming event on Sat. at 7pm, at:

Mineral Clubhouse
8500 East Mineral Drive
Centennial, CO

He is trying to promote a Gaming cafe he wants to start.  Should be a fun time.  For anyone at my lan party it's AJ, Comic101.  We will be playing Gears and Halo and whatever else we want to do.

NXE - One More Day to GO!

Well, it's released to the masses tomorrow November 19th, but if you were vigilant you could have gotten an invite to get it TODAY! Unfortunately I wasn't but what's one more day? It's a totally revamped Xbox dashboard which makes it easier to get with friends, find movies, games, and many other items in the Marketplace, and it looks cool. Plus there's avatars. I know it's kind of a rip off of the Wii interface, but hey it looks a lot better than the soon to be replaced dashboard. Look for my Mii, I mean avatar tomorrow!

Left4Dead, looking good!

So the talk around these parts lately has been the Left4Dead demo that went up last week.  Many a people has requested I download the demo and play with them, ranting and raving on the mechanics of game play.  Since it is released today, I thought I would let you know it has gotten pretty good scores.  I know at least one blogger here is definitely picking it up.
